Fairfax County Parks and Community Together
NCI Helps Send Homeless Children to Summer Camp
The high unemployment rate in the United States has had a severe impact on families across the nation and, in worst case scenarios, has put many children in homeless shelters and transitional housing. In 1997, Fairfax County Park Authority and numerous partners founded PACT (Parks and Community Together) to offer some of these children the opportunity to attend summer day camps. PACT relies solely on fees paid by participating families and private sector funds. In 2011, NCI donated funds to PACT, which will be used to help offset the cost of summer camp for these children and their families.
