Case Studies - Medical Transformation/Health IT

Western Region Medical Center (WRMC) Informatics Project - “Providing wellness program support to deploying and returning Soldiers to identify health and wellness risks”

NCI has been supporting the Madigan Army Medical Center (MAMC) and the WRMC since 2006. We have provided a broad array of IT services, including network operations, information assurance, software development, and enterprise systems management to improve the quality and timeliness of healthcare services provided to deploying and returning Soldiers. Our support to these customers has placed NCI at the forefront of key transformational health initiatives.

Collaborating with key Personal Health Record (PHR) partners MiCare Portal, Microsoft HealthVault, and Google Health, NCI has applied innovative technologies to improve the timeliness of entry-intensive medical/patient forms and data capture. Our leading-edge support includes new frontiers of collaboration and telemedicine using “Virtual Worlds”—a social networking tool allowing for video and VoIP representing individuals through Avatars in a simulated 3D environment. These technologies provide a new paradigm for collaboration, training, and education—offering real-time, high-fidelity interactions among patients and practitioners. Additionally, our support to the Soldier Wellness Assessment Program (SWAP) applies innovative technologies, identifies health or wellness risks, and enables predictive analysis for potential health issues.
