Receive a CNSS/NSA Certification through Train2Secure

NCI participated in the Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation Process established by the CNSS and the NSA, and met federal education and training requirements in Information Assurance. The process systematically assesses the degree to which the various institutions' curriculum satisfies the NSTISSI standards. The certified institutions are then authorized to issue certificates to students completing the courses used in the program.
Students completing courses in the NCI Train2Secure library may receive a certificate for NSTISSI No. 4013 until April 30, 2007. After this date, NCI will no longer be issuing this certificate.

What is CNSS/NSA Certification?

The Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) and National Security Agency (NSA) have developed a nationally recognized certification program based on NSTISSI standards. The process certifies institutions as meeting all of the elements of a specific standard with a designated set of courseware. NCI received notification from the National INFOSEC Education and Training Program (NIETP) that Train2Secure mapped 100% to the CNSS National Standards for NSTISSI No. 4013.

College Credits through The American Council on Education (ACE)

NCI joins a select number of organizations that have added value to their courses through college credit recommendations as a result of a review conducted by the American Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service. A team of content specialists, selected from college faculty, has reported that NCI's Train2Secure courses are comparable to college level courses and may be used as transfer credit at many colleges and universities. According to Jo Ann Robinson, Director, ACE's College Credit Recommendation Service, in over twenty years, ACE has saved employers millions of dollars in tuition reimbursement and has helped thousands of employees earn a college education.

Continuing Professional Education Credits Available for CISSPs and SSCPs

Personnel holding Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional certifications from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, commonly known as (ISC)², may earn CPE credits:

  • Earn one Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for each hour of education accomplished in Train2Secure from (ISC)². Individuals can take any of the courses found in Train2Secure for credit.
  • Students should send an email to registrar@isc2.org, providing a course transcript, their (ISC)² member ID, and the number of NCI course hours/CPE credits completed.

Why Certify?

Ensuring industry standards, ethics and certification of IS professionals and practitioners becomes critical to ensuring a higher standard for security is achieved. (ISC)², as the only not-for-profit consortium charged with maintaining, administering and certifying IS professionals in the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK), is the premier resource for IS professionals worldwide.
