Information Systems Security Line of Business

NCI has delivered web-based IT Security Awareness training to U.S. Federal and DoD customers for more than five years. Our proven offering can be leveraged to provide a cost-effective training solution for the Information Systems Security Line of Business (ISS LOB) and is available now through the OPM/GoLearn Shared Service Center (SSC).

Per-user pricing and discounted enterprise licensing options are available for our three off-the-shelf Security Awareness courses:

  • Beginner Level (30 minutes)
  • Intermediate Level (60 Minutes)
  • Executive Level (60 minutes)

These online courses are SCORM-compliant, in support of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, based on NIST special publications (800-50 & 800-16), and are fully customizable to reflect your Organization's security culture, policies and procedures.

Not only can NCI fulfill your ISS LOB Security Awareness (Tier I) training needs, but we are also aligned to meet your Specialized Training (Tier II) requirements with our Train2Secure library. Our library of online role-based IT Security courses is already mapped to the NIST-defined IT roles described in NIST SP 800-16, making it that much easier for your students to meet their FISMA training requirements.

What is FISMA?

"E-Government Act of 2002," into law. Title III of the Bill addresses information security. The short title for this section of the new law is cited as the "Federal Information Security Act (FISMA) of 2002." FISMA requires agencies to follow security standards developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and use best security practices. FISMA identifies the criticality of security training at all levels -- from security awareness for all staff to more advanced security training for personnel who have specific security or system responsibilities.

According to FISMA guidelines, each federal agency must provide for mandatory periodic training in computer security awareness and accepted computer security practice of all employees who are involved with the management, use, or operation of each federal computer system within or under the supervision of that agency.
