The Challenge
McKesson is a healthcare services and IT company dedicated to helping its customers deliver high-quality healthcare by reducing costs, streamlining processes, and improving the quality and safety of patient care. McKesson provides pharmaceutical and medical-surgical supply management; healthcare information technology for hospitals, physicians, homecare and payors; hospital and retail pharmacy automation; and services for manufacturers and payors designed to improve outcomes for patients.
McKesson had a mandate to decrease implementation time of its key products and solutions by 50%. To support a rapid rollout, McKesson wanted to efficiently train employees and customers while reducing training costs and time away from work. McKesson needed to roll out and implement products and services, train end-users, increase delivery capacity, and generate additional revenue without increasing internal training resources.
By using new technologies and creating a comprehensive training center of blended learning solutions, McKesson can respond to the industry's need for timely, accessible, engaging, trackable, and measurable mandated and continuing education training for professional and support staff. By changing to a performance-based training model, it has decreased the amount of time each person spends in training and has increased their level of mastery. We helped McKesson increase customer loyalty and retention by creating just-in-time training and customized learning solutions. McKesson requested that their current Instructor-Led Training (ILT) be converted to Web-based Training (WBT). We took McKesson provided ILT documents (including but not limited to lesson plans, study guides, workbooks, and PowerPoint presentations) to convert them into WBT.
The Solution
The web-based courses replace 35 days of classroom training and help reduce the customers' total cost to train their employees on average by 50% or greater. In addition, we completed these courses ahead of time and under budget.
The Results
We are a provider of comprehensive training solutions to Fortune 500 corporations. In the first nine months of the contract, we have developed more than 200 lessons totaling 70 hours of courseware.
