“Cloud computing allows NCI to further focus our efforts on our customers’ highest priority mission-facing requirements bounded by our corporate ethic of trust, integrity, and performance.”
We are surrounded by clouds—private clouds, public clouds, enterprise clouds; the list goes on and on. While espousing their ability to save money, vendors say they have implemented sufficient security controls and claim “trust us, we are safe enough.” However, cloud-based solutions need to be complemented with credentialed staff and rigorous operational security frameworks tested in the real world. Our data center modernization/relocation efforts have created an opportunity for us to accelerate the pace by which our customers can securely adopt cloud-based solutions and offerings. As we have done for DISA, Fort Bragg, and the Intelligence Community, our data center modernization efforts have focused on improving operational efficiencies while taking advantage of economies of scale with IT investments. As a result, we continue to invest in our own cloud-based service offerings in the medical fraud detection marketplace while simultaneously partnering with leading Federally focused and appropriately certified cloud-hosting providers to ensure we can deliver the right cloud offerings based on our customers’ needs and desires. Following the “server wars” in the last decade, the wide range of commercial cloud vendors will eventually consolidate down to those naturally selected by the Government marketplace. With NCI’s Government-focused and cloud-agnostic approach, we enable our customers to navigate this period of change and adopt the optimal cloud strategy—whether it is based on a public-, private-, or hybrid-implementation model or some combination thereof—that offers the best set of security, governance, and portability features pulled from across the Federal Government.
