Company’s Shai AI solution automates repetitive tasks, empowering federal workforce to perform more critical functions

RESTON, Va. – NCI Information Systems, Inc. (NCI), a leading provider of advanced information technology solutions and professional services to U.S. federal government agencies, announced today it has been named an Industry Innovator in the 2018 Government Innovation Awards. The company was selected for its government artificial intelligence (AI) solution, Shai, which stands for Scaling Humans with Artificial Intelligence.

Shai is a transformative operational AI technology designed to handle repetitive tasks with immense accuracy and efficiency, using the tools and systems agencies already have in place. The three main areas Shai is trained on include back office support, service desk support, and data entry and migration. By automating highly-repetitive, high-volume tasks, federal agencies can redirect their staff to focus on higher value knowledge-based work, reducing costs and increasing overall efficiencies. And, Shai is completely coded in the U.S., safeguarding against foreign threats introduced by offshore options.

“NCI is delighted to be recognized as an innovator for our government AI work with Shai,” said Paul A. Dillahay, NCI president and CEO. “Operational AI is the right technology to help federal agencies tackle their ever-growing data needs and streamline the duplicative duties that too often distract from the more mission-centric focus areas. By handling the routine day-to-day work, Shai enables agency personnel to concentrate on the efforts that require creativity and human ingenuity.”

Presented by FCW, GCN, Washington Technology and Defense Systems, the 2018 Industry Innovator awards recognize 25 private-sector companies advancing technologies critical to tomorrow’s government. Winners will be honored at the Government Innovation Awards dinner at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner on November 8, 2018.
